City or MUD? Harvest Ridge, Trinity Ranch and Brickston are MUDs outside city limits — they pay a MUD tax instead of a city tax, and city services differ.
PRO TIP
Two counties. Most of Elgin is in Bastrop County, but some communities, like Harvest Ridge, cross into Travis County. Check the tax rate by address.
PRO TIP
The city rate is going up. The proposed 2026–27 city rate is about $0.68, up from about $0.62. Confirm the final adopted rate.
PRO TIP
Check the water provider. The City of Elgin serves inside city limits; some communities, such as Harvest Ridge, are served by Aqua WSC, with different rates and watering rules.
